last week, i received a call from ntu.
over the other side of the phone some one asked me, was i interested in ntu college scholarship.
i was working then, so i requested her to email me the details of the scholarship.
i was actually thinking, was it the real deal?
because the one who rang me, her voice sounded like someone i knew.
but after i requested her, we hanged up.
when i went home after that, i checked my email.
serious enough, there was an email with regards to the scholarship.
i took a look.
i replied her with all my doubts regarding the scholarship.
we exchanged a couple of emails clarifying all my doubts.
and i consulted my dad, and my friends regarding the scholarship as well.
all of them said i should give it a try.
so i replied back, confirming my interest, and they arranged an interview for me.
i went for the interview this week.
my interviewer was the dean of mse.
i was quite surprised there was only one interviewer.
and outside the room, it seems like im the only interviewee as well.
so she started to talk to me.
instead of interviewing me, it seemed to me that it was more like a faq session.
she asked me what doubts i had for the scholarship, and she would then explain it to me.
so this whole faq session carried on for at least 20mins.
then suddenly when i asked about what commitments would i have after 3years of studies, she said its 4years.
so i said im in ntu business school, its 3years.
she replied that im in ntu mse.
i was shocked.
then i told her how i went for accountancy interview and appealed and gotten it in the end.
she gave the amused expression, and i thought i looked at her with the same kind of expression as well.
so she immediately said she would go and check this out, and ended this so-called interview abruptly.
she said she would email me of the outcome.
the next day, i received her email.
im actually very nervous before i opened the email.
hesitated for a couple of seconds before i clicked it.
im relieved to find out that im still in accountancy.
so i replied her, was the interview and my application for the scholarship voided because im not a mse student?
sadly, yes.
so there gone my scholarship.
im very disappointed for the whole day.
because i thought i would have gotten the scholarship, since she wasnt really interviewing me, instead gave me reassurances that i could cope with the scholarship, studies, and commitments at the same time before she found out i was a business school student.
it was like a stack of money handed to me, and when i wanted to grab it, the money turned into smoke.
besides that point, i wanted to get the scholarship because i thought i could help lessen the financial burden on my dad's shoulder, since my brother is in uni now, and im going to study as well.
after i do his company accounts, i realised that it is actually quite hard to sustain me and brother's tuition fees.
so it made me wanted to get the scholarship even more.
i thought i should apply for the scholarship through the normal channel, even though i wasnt eligible for the scholarship in mse.
but the window was closed.
so, now im actually thinking of ways that i can make money when i go to uni.
i mean it is definitely impossible for me to pay for my own tuition fees.
so i thought if possible, i want to earn my own allowances.
to relieve my parents financial burden as much as possible.
so now, besides paying for my braces and driving lessons, i need to save as much money as possible.
and ways to earn money in uni.
